Kabarak University and University of Ibadan Strengthen Academic Collaboration Across Africa During Vice-Chancellor Prof. Henry Kiplangat’s Visit

(UI) and Kabarak University, Kenya, are set to expand their collaborative efforts in higher education following a recent visit by Kabarak University’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor , to UI. During the visit, Professor , UI’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), representing UI’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor , reaffirmed the institutions’ commitment to their partnership. This partnership includes a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that covers research, academic staff and student exchanges, joint degree programs, and shared academic resources. Professor Olapegba welcomed Professor Kiplangat’s participation in UI's 2024 Convocation ceremonies and 76th Foundation Day, where Professor Kiplangat delivered a public lecture on "Transformational Leadership in Higher Education: Empowering Africa's Future."

Both universities are enthusiastic about broadening the scope of their collaboration to include more departments and faculties, advancing shared objectives in research, teaching, and knowledge dissemination. Professor Kiplangat, speaking on behalf of Kabarak University, emphasized his university's eagerness to foster interdisciplinary partnerships with to address educational and scientific challenges facing Africa. He also highlighted the importance of leadership in shaping the future of higher education across the continent.

The visit is a reciprocal gesture following previous visits by UI’s senior staff to Kabarak University, symbolizing a mutual commitment to impactful educational collaboration. Accompanied by Professor , Dean of Kabarak's School of Music and Media Studies, Professor Kiplangat’s visit reflects both universities’ shared vision for strengthening academic ties and cultivating transformative leadership that can empower Africa’s next generation.
